Architecture and surroundings
Architektur und Umfeld
Whether you approach Bayer's Communication Center on foot or by bus, from afar you will see the load-bearing steel girder shaped like a bridge. This symbolizes the intensive dialogue Bayer wishes to establish with members of society and embodies the company's desire to use the center to build a bridge to society at large. BayKomm is situated close to Bayer's high-rise administrative building and its flat, grass-covered roof merges into the Carl Duisberg Park.

The Japanese Garden
The Communication Center is thus carefully integrated into its surroundings. The most striking feature as visitors approach is its openness and clear functionality. The building has large plate glass windows allowing passers-by to see into the exhibition area and encouraging them to come in and look around. Conversely, from inside, the floor-to-ceiling windows give visitors a clear view of the plants and streams in the adjoining Japanese Garden, which is worth a visit at any time of the year.
