Since Bayer opened its Communication Center, it has run special projects for primary school classes on the following topics:

  • What does crop protection have to do with nutrition?
In this project, the children learn about the major food crops for the world's population and crop pests. The need for crop protection agents is explained and set against the world's constantly increasing population. The growing cycles of sunflowers and maize plants are used as examples to explain the concepts of biological and chemical crop protection.

Target group: primary school children (3rd and 4th grades)
    Length: 2 hours
    Notice required: 3-6 months
  • My pet has fleas - what can I do?
In this project, primary school children find out about keeping and looking after pets. They look at the development cycle of the flea, and how pets act as its host, with possible solutions to the problem and practical applications.

Target group: primary school children (3rd and 4th grades)
    Length: 2 hours
    Notice required: 3-6 months
  • Water – is that clear?
How is dirty water made clean again? The project gives schoolchildren an insight into the different methods of water purification and water recycling at Bayer. The schoolchildren visit the individual stages of the biological waste water treatment plant as part of a tour of the Chemical Park.

Target group: primary school children (3rd and 4th grades)
    Length: 2 hours
    Notice required: 3-6 months
We also offer experimental lectures for several primary school classes at once.
Experimentalvortrag für Grundschulklassen
  • "Why marshmallows cannot be produced on Mount Everest"
Experiments with air: the impact of air pressure, composition of air, dangers of combustible substances and chemical reactions caused by fire.

Target group: primary school children (3rd and 4th grades)
    NB: changed
    Length: 45 minutes
  • "Splish-Splash: Experiments with water"
The experimental lecture "Splish-Splash" introduces a substance we encounter everywhere, every day: water. We experience water in its different states: frozen, liquid and steaming. Many of the experiments can be reproduced at home safely and easily.

Target group: primary school children (3rd and 4th grades)
    NB: changed
    Length: 60 minutes
